Beautiful, rare, antique English Longcase Clock with month movement, by Alex Irving, London (circa 1685-1695)
The attractive case is a masterpiece of fine woodworking, with walnut veneer over oak, featuring inlaid floral and bird marquetry. The height is 6'8" with good proportions.
The robust month movement has six pillars with latched plates and an unusual interior rack device controlling the hours strike on a bell. A pull repeat lever is included.
The classic face is engraved brass with silvered dial, including a seconds dial and day of the month window. The diameter of the dial is 11".
